Loose to release 20th anniversary Handsomes album

20 years after its initial release, the lovely people at Loose Music are celebrating the Handsome Family’s iconic record “Through The Trees” with a 20th Anniversary Edition, to be released on 9th March. With the original release receiving wide acclaim, including being hailed as one of the ‘10 Essential Americana Records of All Time’ by MOJO, the re-release will be on “sky-blue coloured” vinyl and also feature an exclusive “Invisible Trees” bonus CD, comprising of 15 tracks of “out-takes, live performances and bickering”. Brett and Rennie Sparks brought a four-piece Handsome Family to The Union Chapel for one of those rare evenings that truly deserve the accolade “magical”. Demonstrating the ability for even a little television exposure to change the size of an audience The Handsome Family have stepped up to a considerably larger venue than on previous tours, and one that couldn’t be more in keeping with their music – on an early March evening when the shadows draw in quickly there could have been no better frame for their musical paintings of the strange, mystical and plain bizarre in American life. The Handsome Family arrive in UK next week – here’s the tour dates

The Handsomes (they of the “True Detective” theme if you don’t already know them from their days of touring with pictures of dressed up cats) return to UK shores next week for one of their regular jaunts around the country, this time promoting their latest album “Unseen” which Mojo described as their “masterpiece”.  They’re supported by Courtney Marie Andrews and William the Conqueror (not literally).  Feast your eyes and ears on the dates below which you can buy tickets for from here.
