Joan Baez announces “last formal extended” UK and Ireland tour dates

Erm…  not sure what that means other than she might carry on in her pyjamas at your nan’s in 2019.  Joan Baez has announced an extensive 2018 world tour, including UK dates in March and May. In conjunction with the tour, Baez will release a new studio album ‘Whistle Down The Wind’ (Proper Records), produced by Joe Henry, in early March 2018. This will be her first new record since 2008’s  ‘Day After Tomorrow’ (no relation to the movie of the same name, which would have been infinitely better if Baez had been involved). Jackson Browne inducts Joan Baez into Hall of Fame

Rolling Stone have a piece this morning on a chat David Browne (no relation) had with Jackson Browne following Joan Baez’s induction into the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You can see a clip of the speech he gave below.  He reports: “Browne and Baez have crossed paths multiple times over the years, with Baez having covered and interpreted songs by Browne on her own albums. Last year, the folk legends performed on stage for Baez’s 75th birthday celebration at New York’s Beacon Theater. After Browne gave a deeply personal speech about Baez, tracing her involvement in his own musical upbringing, he spoke with Rolling Stone about the importance of the ceremony.
