Ali Sperry “Cool Under Pressure” – celebrating some change

Cool Under Pressure‘ is a political song, but one that holds up a huge banner and says “whoop!”  Which is not to say it’s lightweight or lacking in message, it’s just that it was a song Ali Sperry was inspired to write when observing some positive progressive change in her homeland.  As she explains, she was watching the Vice Presidential debate in 2020 and “Kamala Harris was a force to be reckoned with that night and made a deep impact on me. I stirred with pride to be a woman, pride that there was such a woman ready for the task of leadership, and honestly the most pride I had felt in our country for a long while. She was graceful and commanding, intelligent and elegantly self-assured. The way she calmly fought for her time to speak, insisted on it, was almost shocking to me, as it was an example too-seldom seen.

Cool Under Pressure‘ is taken from Sperry’s new album ‘In Front Of Us‘ which will be released on March 11th.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
