Amanda Cook “My Used To Be Blue Ridge Mountain Home” – Listen

The latest single from the excellent album ‘Narrowing the Gap‘ (read the review here) is a co-write by Amanda Cook and Carolyne Van Lierop Boone.  It’s a nostalgic song, as you might expect, looking back on the perfection of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Amanda Cook told us “Carolyne Van Lierop and I sat down one night late after a weekend of gigs in Virginia and decided that we wanted to write a song about the Blue Ridge Mountains. We had the goal of making the new album have more of a traditional leaning. ‘“My Used to be Blue Ridge Mountain Home”’ did turn out to have that grassy, traditional feel we were aiming for! It has been so well received in our live shows.”  That’s Carolyne you can hear on that sweet, sweet, banjo.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
