Becky Kapell “Idle Down” – Put that pedal to the metal!

Becky Kapell is torn between two desires – the first is to let rip and barrel down the highway, the second is to not make this journey too short, ‘cos her baby’s on board and she “wants this ride to last.”  Oh, there may be a euphemism in there somewhere – this is, after all a song from that crossroads of old time rock and roll and country.

Raised in small town Minnesota, Becky Kapell moved to Portland Oregon on a whim as a young adult and began singing back-up vocals in various bands, eventually fronting her own country cover band. Along came a husband, two kids and a move back to Minnesota. “I worked full-time, raised my kids and basically forgot about music until my son started playing guitar as a teenager. After my divorce I found myself with a little more time on my hands so I picked up one of my sons guitars and began teaching myself to play for fun.

Becky Kapell will be releasing a new album in 2022, called ‘In It To Win It‘  and ‘Idle Down‘ is taken from it.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
