Black Deer appears to be the americana music festival everyone and their dog (or deer) is talking about this year and just to make matters even more exciting, the festival organisers have announced they’re launching a competition to unearth the hottest acts, giving the best undiscovered talent a shot to hopefully accompany the sun and shine on the festival stage in June.
In partnership with SupaJam and the Tunbridge Wells Forum, the festival is inviting you to send in your two best YouTube video performances. Once all entries are in, the judges will get to work whittling down all the entries to leave just five of the best. These five acts will then be invited to play at the iconic Tunbridge Wells Forum, where based on their performance on the night, they’ll be awarded a stage slot at the Black Deer Festival 2018. If you’ve made it that far, even if you’re first on you’ll be a winner, although just forget that bit Jesus said about the first being last.
For a chance to play, email links to those YouTube tracks showcasing your talent along with a brief bio and any additional social media pages to firstname.lastname@example.org Submissions need to be in by midnight on Friday 13th April – if you have anyone moving a big black piano next door to you on that day, maybe pop it in the day before. You will be contacted by SupaJam / Black Deer via e-mail if you are successful and you will need to be available to play at The Black Deer Forum event on Thursday 10th May.
AUK will be there to cover the festival as the line-up including as it does Jason Isbell, Iron & Wine and Eric Bibb looks too awesome to avoid, despite the fact it takes place
on Mars in Kent. Tickets and more info are here and in the meantime, what better excuse do we need to pop in a bit of Passenger crooning with an orchestral quartet.
