Mississippi-born, Memphis-raised, Grammy Award-winning music legend Charlie Musselwhite has released ‘Blues Gave Me A Ride’, the first single from his upcoming album. The master harmonica player and blues guitarist has announced his latest album ‘Mississippi Son’ will be released on June 3rd on Alligator Records. This, his approximately fortieth album(!) and fourth album on the record label, comes four years after his Grammy Nominated album ‘No Mercy on This Land‘ with Ben Harper. The album will include fourteen tracks, eight of which are original compositions and will be available on CD, translucent blue vinyl LP and your favourite streaming platform. Having recently moved back to Mississippi from Northern California, Musselwhite recorded ‘Mississippi Son‘ in Clarksdale, right in the heart of the Delta.

Growing up, Musselwhite not only learned the music first-hand from many of the blues’ most influential artists, but he also absorbed the lifestyle. “It’s an attitude,” Musselwhite says of playing the blues, “A way of living life.”. His exploratory recordings include straight blues but often mix in elements of jazz, gospel, Tex-Mex, Cuban and other world music. In addition to his albums, Musselwhite has been featured on recordings by Tom Waits, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and many others.

The latest album can be preordered from Alligator Records or your preferred local music shop.
