Clare Cunningham “Heart Of Mine” – Listen

Clare Cunningham’s backstory is not your typical singer nudging into the Americana zone. Born in Ireland, after finishing Uni’ Clare moved to Cardiff where she formed a Classic Rock band.  This was succesful enough to get her noticed by Swedish hardrock/metal band Thundermother, who invited her to be their singer and big albums followed.  A couple of years ago she decided to go solo, and relocated to the USA – Nashville to be precise.

Her new material is in a quieter country tinged mode.  So, a career for which varied would be the word and it may be that this is just a temporary step to somewhere else.  Who knows?  But right now she’s attracted the attention of the legendary Steve “the Colonel” Cropper who helped out on ‘Heart of Mine‘ (which, we should note, is not a cover of the Dylan song).   As Steve explains “I truly enjoyed playing on Clare’s track because she has such a tremendous voice, no matter what song she is performing. She makes me want to play because she sings with passion and feeling. You know you’re getting a true performance

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
