Eamon McGrath “Fireworks” – explosions in the sky

Eamon McGrath finds himself tongue-tied on his most recent single, taken from the album ‘A Dizzying Lust’ which is released on March 31st.  It’s a paradoxical situation though as he describes having “most of the English language trapped inside my throat” in a song that deftly uses that trapped tongue.

Eamon McGrath is a Toronto based musician who has – in fifteen years of recording, gigging and touring – amassed 25 albums to date.  He’s also scored a couple of films and written a couple of books – words are not, after all, something that he lacks.  Whereas he’s known for an al-out rock approach, for the new album he has become an acoustic warrior – a traditional folk-singing troubadour out on the road to wherever.  He does it so well you might have thought he’d been doing it this way forever.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
