Emma Guzman “Bullfrog” – you know any more?

Bullfrog‘ is something of a transition song for Detroit based indie-folk singer Emma Guzman as it reflects, in part, on the change from teenage years to moving into her twenties – well, to be specific becoming 20.  Emma Guzman speaks of the song as being “my way of saying I don’t owe anybody anything. If you’re going to rely on me so heavily, I’m just going to let you down.”  It’s also her favourite song on her upcoming new album because, as she explains “It was a moment of confidence for me, and I don’t see a lot of that within my music.”  Hard to credit, in one who sings with such self-possession.

Bullfrog’ is off the album, ‘Something Less Than Alone’, due out June 17th.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
