Gareth Inkster “Used To It” – Listen

Gareth Inkster isn’t lucky in love  – we don’t know if he’s lucky at cards, but there’s a suggestion from ‘Used to it‘ that he’s lucky at pulling a song out of an emotionally bad situation.

As he explains ‘Used to it ‘ was “written in the immediate aftermath of a breakup. I got home, and could feel myself anticipating the inevitable fallout – the weight of realization hadn’t settled yet.  The image came to mind of an unfortunate soul who had been tied to the tracks while a train was approaching, like in those old westerns; safe for now, but ultimately screwed.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
