Grizzley Coast “Catch & Release” – Listen

We’re always looking for our new favourite Canadian jangly-fuzzy dream-popesque band – and today’s is Grizzly Coast.  Alannah Kavanagh moved from folky singer-songwriter to front-person for a kicking rock band when she formed Toronto based Grizzly Coast.

Catch & Release‘  is a song about self-reliance, as Kavanagh explains: “this song emphasizes that you can turn your back on the takers. You don’t need another person to complete you – some self-respect will do that all on its own. I believe that we’re the architects of our existence, so we might as well show up for ourselves and reach for a life we’d be proud to live.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
