Guided By Voices announces new album and shares brand new song

Prolific American Lo-fi band Guided By Voices has announced a new album ‘Welshpool Frillies‘ to be released on July 21st on their own label GBV Inc. The album was produced by Travis Harrison, and much of it was recorded live to tape. The album includes the single ‘Seedling’ which was debuted last week via Rolling Stone.

Guided By Voices kicked off the year with the release of ‘La La Land‘, described by bandleader Robert Pollard as “a companion piece to Tremblers and Goggles By Rank [that] continues to explore a path of diversity in styles and in longer, more adventurous song structures.“. In 2022, GBV shared three other records: ‘Tremblers and Goggles By Rank‘, ‘Crystal Nuns Cathedral‘, and ‘Scalping The Guru‘.

Our columnist David Cowling wrote a piece about Guided By Voices’ central figure entitled ‘Is Robert Pollard rock music’s Picasso?‘ which you can read in full here.

The album will be available on vinyl, CD, and your favourite streaming platform. You can pre-order the album from the Rockathon website.
