Jason Tyler Burton “Date Night At The Dairy Queen” – Listen

Jason Tyler Burton’s song, taken from his new album ‘Kentuckian‘, and it’s another finely crafted look through another’s eyes.  This time it’s the conflicted emotions of someone trapped in a one-horse town who, at the same time, feels so connected to it that he can’t leave.

It’s a conflict brought into sharp focus on lines like “we grow our own veggies make our own amphetamine / but our number one cash crop is crushed hope and dreams / … / oh God, to tell you the truth there’s no place I’d rather be, than here in these trees.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
