Jesse Malin “Wendy (Tail Lights Fade Version)” – it’s new, it’s old, but it’s new

You know the story well enough by now – Jesse Malin released the landmark album ‘The Fine Art of Self Destruction‘ some 20 years ago and to mark the event he has re-recorded the album to give a different slant to it for the Deluxe reissue.  Aha!  But there are yet more re-recordings – and this is one of them.  ‘Wendy (Tail Lights Fade Version)‘ is the first of three planned releases of versions not from the original album and not from the Deluxe version either.  It’s kind of Deluxe plus, if you will.

The song was reimagined and re-recorded with his longtime band, the material was produced by Derek Cruz and engineered by Geoff Sanoff, who worked on Malin’s recent ‘Sunset Kids’ and ‘Sad And Beautiful World’ albums.

And dates – there are dates coming, Jesse Malin will be playing in the UK in May and June at these fine venues and festivals (other venues and festivals are available – but Jesse Malin won’t be at them…).

30th May – Birmingham, Hare & Hounds

31st May – Hull, New Adelphi Club

1st June – Oxted, Barn Theatre

2nd June – Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach

3rd June – Euston Hall, Red Rooster Festival (Thetford)

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
