Jingle Bells Thursday aka Friday – Here it is, Merry Christmas

Well, this is it.  We’re putting this feature to bed for another year.  Maybe, just maybe, if you’ll be good then we’ll have another go in 2021.  Quality Christmas songs being available being the real requisite for a repeat.  The astute amongst the readership will have noticed that today is actually Thursday – well, like polar bears the staff of Americana UK will be taking a long winter nap from today.  True, ours may be due to copious consumption of fermented or brewed beverages, but anyway we’ll be back in the New Year!

Yes, it’s Covid again that has caused Ben Cook-Feltz to bring his annual Christmas shows to the world as a recording ‘Merry BCF-ing Christmas‘ this year.  Here he bravely takes on The Greatest Rock Christmas Song, Ever!

Continuing with the Santa theme that’s emerging this week – well, he is loading the sleigh right now you know.  So it’s only appropriate that we should take note of Kelley Finnigan‘s  warning that ‘Santa’s Watching You‘.   Quite closely it seems “Yeah, that man’s watching you, he’s got his eyes on you“.

The Northern Belle are taking their lives into their hands – since they are snowed in they suggest a heady mixture of drinking, dancing, The Beatles, hair-cutting and dimming the lights.  We don’t recommend cutting your hair in dim-light, but we  admire their spirit.

After all that cheerfulness it’s time for a quick dose of the mournful, in this case a short and sweet dose from Three Queens in Mourning.

It seems only fair to end with this seasonal song – not a new one, but what the heck just this once, eh?  Have a Happy One and we’ll see you in 2021 with our new feature ‘Failed New Years’ Resolutions Friday.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
