Joan Baez announces “last formal extended” UK and Ireland tour dates

Erm…  not sure what that means other than she might carry on in her pyjamas at your nan’s in 2019.  Joan Baez has announced an extensive 2018 world tour, including UK dates in March and May. In conjunction with the tour, Baez will release a new studio album ‘Whistle Down The Wind’ (Proper Records), produced by Joe Henry, in early March 2018. This will be her first new record since 2008’s  ‘Day After Tomorrow’ (no relation to the movie of the same name, which would have been infinitely better if Baez had been involved).

Speaking of the tour, which will begin on March 2 in Stockholm, Baez says “While 2018 will be my last year of formal extended touring, I’m looking forward to being on the road with a beautiful new album about which I am truly proud.  I welcome the opportunity to share this new music as well as longtime favorites with my audiences around the world.” Joan last performed in the UK in 2014 when she sold out 4 nights at London’s Royal Festival Hall, following a sold out 21 date tour in 2012.
