Laura Fell “Bone Of Contention” – Listen

Laura Fell has produced her debut alum ‘Safe from Me‘, from which ‘Bone of Contention‘ is taken whilst holding a day job as a psychotherapist.  The album is described as a search for answers from a woman always expected to have them to hand, and the self-punishing frustration that assumption brings.  It also means that the music is insightful, carefully worded and mentally probing.

Laura Fell sees ‘Bone of Contention‘ as “an exercise in anger, really. I’ve always struggled to feel anger without also feeling out of control, and therefore disempowered. What this song is about is allowing myself to sit with my anger, and ending up finding clarity and power within it.”  It’s also a mature singer-songwriter reflection on relationships which flows with hidden depths that invite relistens.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
