Leftover Salmon “Brand New Good Old Days” – Listen

When Drew Emmitt’s Left Hand String Band did some gigs with Vince Herman’s cajun-jug band Salmon Heads they needed a combined band name – “Had we known it was going to last this long we could have called it Aerosmith or something cool, it might really have made a difference” jokes Herman about the somewhat fishy choice they made.   You can read all about them here, but all you really have to know is that Leftover Salmon are residents of that intersection point of Grateful Dead and Bluegrass.  ‘Brand New Good Old Days‘ is all about living for now and not looking back – in anger or nostalgia.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
