Mamma’s Marmalade “Evangaline” – All sweet, no bitter aftertaste

Mamma’s Marmalade are a bluegrass band from New England, who have a new album ‘Rabbit Analog‘ out on August 21st.  The band came together piece by piece through college – lead singer and fiddle player Lilly Sexton and mandolinist Mitch Bordage formed a duo, and became a trio when Sean Davis asked to join them on stage for a tune at an open-mic. After releasing two albums ‘Goodbye, Black Velvet‘ and ‘Rockabee Fields‘ the band expanded when bassist Dan Bisson joined them.

Mamma’s Marmalade went on the road, gigging as much as they could – but, well, not last year, eh?  Fortunately they had a pile of songs garnered from writing at turns in a New Orleans rental house, a minivan crossing the Ozarks, and a drafty Massachusetts garage in the middle of a springtime lockdown – and that’s how ‘Rabbit Analog‘ came to be.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
