Michael McDermott announces UK dates

Chicago-based singer-songwriter Michael McDermott has announced a short run of Ireland & UK dates in early May in support of his new album ‘Orphans’ which we recently reviewed.

The record explores similar terrain as its predecessors ‘Willow Springs’ and ‘Out from Under’ – its 12 songs were initially abandoned, but apparently refused to leave McDermott’s mind. “Some songs won’t go away”, McDermott explains. “On all of my records there’s this stack of songs that won’t make it – and they disappear for good.  It wasn’t the case this time.  This isn’t an outtake album.  I have an album waiting to go, but these songs were too loud in my heart, they kept waking me at night.  These songs are orphans, in much the same way I’ve felt in the last three years.”

(The) Stephen King said of McDermott: “Michael McDermott is one of the best songwriters in the world and possibly the greatest undiscovered rock ‘n’ roll talent of the last 20 years.”

Here are the dates. Sorry Scots, Northerners, Welsh and, well anyone not in Kikenny or London basically.
