Miss Tess “True Flood” – Listen

Miss Tess was in the UK last year supporting JP Harris, so it shouldn’t be too surprising to discover that today’s song is a country rock’n’roller with a crisp jazzy piano accompaniment, a steady beat and the duetting vocals of Miss Tess and Rachael Price (of Lake Street Dive).

Miss Tess recorded the song for her new album ‘The Moon Is An Ashtray‘, an eclectic mix of country, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll  amongst the more obvious genres mixed up and blended across the album.  It was co-produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff) and Thomas Bryan Eaton, her full-time bandmate and musical partner. Miss Tess elaborates, “I think Andrija’s indie leanings were pivotal in taking these songs into a transcendent space, while still supporting my initial vision. He definitely pushed me in new ways and the three of us found a very interesting mix between bold experimentation and a more traditional approach.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
