Dirty Dozen: Gitta De Ridder

Gitta De Ridder, 2016Anglo-Dutch singer-songwriter Gitta De Ridder has announced the release of her new album ‘Feathers’ on September 21st.  An album which follows a true creative vision, focused on the words that make stories come to life, it explores relationships, romance, family and cities, and all that makes us human. The Band to Release 40th Anniversary Editions of “The Last Waltz”

On Thanksgiving Day 1976, The Band took the stage for the very last time at the Winterland Theatre in San Francisco. For the show, aptly billed as The Last Waltz,  Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, and Robbie Robertson were joined by an all-star group of music pioneers, including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and Neil Young, among others. The evening was captured on film by director Martin Scorsese.  Released theatrically in April 1978 to critical acclaim, The Last Waltz is still considered by many to be the greatest concert film ever made.  Continue reading “The Band to Release 40th Anniversary Editions of “The Last Waltz””

Sera “Little Girl” (Folkal Records, 2016)

a2998093216_16While I am unsure why Caernarfon, North Wales based Sera feels the need to have an out of focus cover photo adorn the front of the CD cover, there is no shortage of focus regards the direction of her music. Due to the diverse, clever constant changing of musical arrangements and the varied tone of Sera vocals it ensures the listener is kept entertained.
