Rachel Sumner & Travelling Light “Strangers Again” – haven’t we met?

Rachel Sumner you may recall from the “Twang Factor” last year, where she was the runner up.  Well, here we find her with new music with her new band Travelling Light, which features Ira Klein on guitar and Kat Wallace on fiddle.  This is their take on Gillian Welch & David Rawlings’ aching song of love that’s fallen apart, to the point that there’s no connection left.  It is taken from the upcoming debut album that will be released on August 5th.

Speaking of both this song and the new album Rachel Sumner has said “There’s a thread through the songs in this Traveling Light album of people feeling other or finding they’ve transformed into strangers, whether it’s to someone they were once close to, or to themselves.  This seemed like a natural fit for the record, and I really love the arrangement we came up with; the way it extends and explores, musically, what was originally a fairly condensed song.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
