The always excellent Red Rooster festival has announced the first line-up for 2020, a 3-day event which takes place in the parkland and woods of Euston Hall, Suffolk from May 28th –30th. Described as “a good-time weekend of Rhythm and Blues in the heart of Suffolk County” there’s always plenty of americana thrown in there for good measure. Richard Hawley is set to headline the festival with other notable additions to the line-up including North Mississippi Allstars, Luther Dickinson, The Sheepdogs, Nicole Atkins, MFC Chicken, Sister Suzie & the Right Band, Mudlow, and 2-time Grammy-winning Americana artist Jim Lauderdale.
2019 has been a landmark year for Hawley with his ninth studio album, ‘Further’ entering he UK album charts at No.3 in the same year of celebrating his twentieth anniversary as a solo artist, something that he views with his customary sense of bluff realism: “I suppose twenty years is quite a long time in this business but, to be honest, even after all this time, I’m still a searcher. I’m still genuinely searching for things, in music and in life. I can’t tell you exactly what I’m looking for, or where I’m actually going but when I get there, I’ll probably send you a text.”
Red Rooster is hosted by Harry, Duke of Grafton, a huge fan of roots music in all its myriad forms, and this year’s festival was expertly curated by the Red Rooster programming team, travelling to Nashville, Memphis, and Mississippi.
