What we’re learning this week is that there are quite a lot of americana festivals in the UK that feature the letter “R” – yesterday we had the Ramblin’ Roots Revue and today we have news that Red Rooster is returning at the end of May for its annual weekend-long celebration of contemporary American Roots music. The line up includes Grammy nominated Cedric Burnside with his brand of “hypnotic Mississippi Hill country blues”, The Black Eyed Dogs featuring the polymath Ethan Johns, Nashville’s J.D. Wilkes from The Legendary Shack Shakers, fellow Nashvillians Blackfoot Gypsies, and Texas born Jarrod Dickenson. They’ll be joined by other artists already announced including Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets, Low Cut Connie, Dale Watson & His Lone Stars, Jesse Dayton, Errol Linton, William the Conqueror, and Joli Blon Cajun Band. The full line-up is below.
The 3-day event takes place in the parkland and woods of Euston Hall, Suffolk, from May 30 – June 1. Tickets are on sale from the official site at £69.50 + booking fee for the weekend, which includes 3 nights of camping and free parking. Kids under 12 are free.
