Ricky Stein “The Great Empty” – Listen

We’re not out of the woods completely, but there are some promising signs coming with respect to the current pandemic.  Ricky Stein’s been thinking about the future – on what changes, if any, there will be – and on the past and what we know that we’ve lost.  A lifelong Austinite –  until he relocated to the big apple in 2016 – Ricky Stein strives between his two tendencies – those two strains of rock that are roots and indie – to craft singer-songwriter insights in the great Austin tradition.  Here he surely succeeds.  ‘The Great Empty‘ was inspired by a New York Times photography feature of the same name, and it acknowledges an apocalyptic image of a deserted city – as Stein sings “I’ve been out walking on these empty streets for days.
