Something for the weekend: Brady Harris “Hotel in the Sky”

Well that is IT for another week dear reader, there has been such a torrent of content over the last few days that we need to go into a dark room for a lie-down. Just before we do, we leave you with a superb new track from Angelino (LA-ian?) Brady Harris whose new album landed last Friday. ‘Hotel in the Sky’ is the title track from the record, the video for which was beautifully shot, directed and edited by Alex Smith in Nice, France in June, 2022.  The vintage Corvette apparently belongs to Alex, not Brady.

Written in equal tribute to a real-life, notorious East London drug den and to that feeling of being deep in the throes of love – because, you know, the world’s ablaze when you’re under the influence – ‘Hotel in the Sky’ is a late-night trek through that human frailty called indulgence, in all its glorious forms. Bryan Ferry once sang that “love is a drug” and if that’s the case, this dual narrative is a continuation on that theme, blurring the lines between dependence and addiction, and lust and desire, hope and hopelessness. And hey, there is not enough lust and desire in americana. Have a good one.
