Something for the weekend: Hayes Carll “Down the Road Tonight (Acoustic)”

How many more acoustic albums can you stand this year? The answer is hopefully a lot as there’s no let-up in them – luckily some of them are gems in their own right, such as the forthcoming new record from Texan musician Hayes Carll whose new album ‘Alone Together Sessions’ comes out on September 4th via the Dualtone label. On his Facebook page, Carll said of the new album: “We decided to make a record mostly of songs I’d written and recorded before. Mostly recorded separate from one another at our respective homes because, well, we’re living through a pandemic. Darrell Scott played just about all the instruments. Allison Moorer sang with me on “Bad Liver and a Broken Heart.” Ray Wylie Hubbard jumped on “Drunken Poet’s Dream” and even talked some trash from a thousand miles away. The dog made an appearance. It was cool, it was fun, and I think you’ll dig it.” We leave you, dear reader, with a track from it to whet your whistle. Have a good one.
