Songs for the apocalypse: Snowglobe “Seems Like”

The one year I made it to SXSW back in 2008, I saw a certain fairly large band from Athens, Georgia, and then saw a not so well known one who went by the name of Snowglobe, and despite how great the former were, it was the latter who really stuck with me. Their stand out album ‘Doing the Distance’ is like a rollercoaster ride of musical styles – check out ‘Ms.June’ or ‘Master of Forgotten Works’ (which was the ringtone on my phone for about 5 years). But it was the track ‘Seems Like’ from a little EP from 2009 delightfully named ‘No Need to Light a Night Light on a Night Like Tonight’ which ranks in my favourite songs of all time. At just over two minutes long, it’s so slight but at the same time so perfectly formed. The instrumental bit which is basically the second half of the song still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It almost seems like a dream I once had.

2022 update: How has this song, one of the greatest songs of all time, only had 105 fucking views. There is no justice in the world, black is white, war is peace.
