Starpainter “Slammin’ On The Brakes” – Listen

Starpainter are kind of reticent about who they are, as if they just want the music to speak for itself.  And maybe that’s no bad thing.  ‘Slammin’ on the Brakes‘ describes an actual car accident – but, hey, it could be a metaphor about slowing down and appreciating this fast flowing by thing that we call life before it’s all over and done with.

What Starpainter are aiming for with ‘Slammin’ on the Brakes‘, and the other songs on their new album ‘Bury Me By My Family‘, is a new direction for alt-country – it’s rock, it’s folk, and there’s country in there too.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
