The Besnard Lakes “Our Heads, Our Hearts On Fire Again” – Listen

Perseverance is the lesson we learn today.  The latest single from The Besnard Lakes is taken from the new album ‘The Besnard Lakes are the Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings‘, and it has had a protracted journey from rejected demo to  the glorious burning firer of a song it is today.  As the band explain themselves: “A skeletal version of the song had been in the Besnard vault for several years after we initially rejected it for a film soundtrack. It went through a couple drafts before we tore it apart, rejiggered some parts and resurrected it to its new form. The song is an ode to logic and intuition and being able to learn from the past.

So – if at first you don’t succeed, tear your failure apart, rejigger it and resurrect it.  And use ‘Our Heads, Our Hearts on Fire Again‘ as your soundtrack and your inspiration.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
