Torgeir Waldemar “Leaf in the Wind” – Listen

Norwegian troubadour Torgeir Waldemar will release his third full album ‘Love‘ through Jansen Records on 17th January.  Here at Americana UK we really liked the last album ‘No Offending Borders‘ and the interim reworked songs mini-album ‘Jamais Vu‘ was described as for the “adventurous (who) want to get a little out of the mainstream“.  That’s our readership in a nutshell.

So what of ‘Leaf in the Wind‘?  It’s a wild rock ride, full of passion and drifting towards the anthemic.  It’s a plea for Love and Understanding, as Torgeir expounds himself, saying that the song is “the sum of what I had in mind for this record. A reminder to us all that, even if the world has become smaller in the past few decades, we feel even smaller. We depend on the big movements around the globe, and it affects our lives. And the most important thing to remember in all of that is to be nice to each other, and take care of who we are and who we have close to us.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
