Toria Wooff “James Edward” shy, diffident, and trustworthy?

Toria Wooff’s new single ‘James Edward‘ has a resolutely Seventies feel to it –  but woozy folk-country songs are not the only string to Toria Woof’s bow as the Lancashire based musician is also a painter, a poet and a storyteller.  That’s a busy schedule.

James Edward‘ tells a tale of a tentative love affair, revolving around discovered portents –  a magical “seven kisses on my cheek“, the freedom to travel alone and the recognition that “you act like leaving is ok” and the ghost of a doubt with the thought that there’s a Dansette back home which “plays songs for someone else“.  Put these clues together and try and piece together what’s going on, as a chill wind blows again.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
