Track Premiere: Daphne Parker Powell “Enough To Kill”

Taken from her upcoming sixth album ‘The Starter Wife’, to be released the 14th of October, ‘Enough to Kill‘ is part of an elegy to the end of a marriage.  The album is, she says “an exercise in ‘radical trust.’ Younger me believed his vows to have and to hold, love and cherish, through good times and bad, in sickness and health, till death do us part. He proved himself fiercely unworthy of it, and despite the myriad flags, I charged forward- heart first. Instead of choosing to steel myself against future pain, I decided to let myself stay vulnerable, and even open my heart wider than I ever had. This album is my honest look at abandonment, codependency, and grief.

Enough to Kill‘ is a song that is clearly heartfelt and is stark to the extreme, with Daphne Parker Powell staying true her commitment to honesty when she describes the dishonesty that’s not being revealed even in the most intimate situations.

‘The Starter Wife’ has been brought to life through the artistic input of producer Duane Lundy and a group of Daphne Parker Powell’s trusted friends who happen to be first-rate musicians. Central to this undertaking is longtime collaborator, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and violinist Kieran Ledwidge.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
