Track Premiere: Jerry Leger “Sweep It Under The Rug”

Jerry Leger’s new single, which you can hear here first, will literally be everywhere from today.  It can be picked up on Bandcamp, will be added as a digital bonus song on the deluxe version of ‘Time Out For Tomorrow’,  Leger’s 2019 album and also on the limited edition red-vinyl release of ‘ Songs From The Apartment.’

‘Sweep It Under the Rug’ was recorded in the same fashion as the rest of ‘Songs From The Apartment’, captured with one microphone late one night in Leger’s Toronto apartment on a corner piano. It’s an intimate ballad about a couple who both realize they’ve been leading secret lives during their long relationship.  The intimate performances of ‘Songs From The Apartment‘ struck a chord with many who were stuck at home during the Covid pandemic, a Jerry Leger commented  “All shows were cancelled or postponed and it was almost therapeutic for me getting this record together. It also went from being just a surprise record for the fans at a difficult time for all of us, to becoming a favourite of mine. I like having an album like this, completely solo, when you can hear songs recorded at home right after they were written. Not knowing if anyone beyond myself would hear it. It naturally allows a relaxed and uninhibited performance.”

Speaking of tours, of course the dates to support ‘Time Out For Tomorrow‘ were cancelled – but we can also reveal that the 2022 European dates are now available to book.  There’s a list below the video – so listen to the song, remember how much you like Jerry Leger, and get those dates in your gig diary.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
