Track Premiere: Kevin Buckley “Never Tire Of The Road”

Kevin Buckley grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where his first musical direction was Irish traditional fiddle which he took up at the age of 9 going on to compete in fiddle contests in the USA and Ireland.  Beyond his teenage years he spread his musical wings with bluegrass, old-time and swing.  And, in the band Grace Basement, rock – releasing four albums so as part of that group.  Varied, one could say – and today’s song comes from Buckley’s first solo release ‘Big Spring‘ which blends together those acoustic strands – folk, fiddle and bluegrass.

Never Tire of the Road‘ is a fine cover of Andy Irvine’s song, telling the tale of Woody Guthrie out there – on the road – forever on the road and organising for unionised labour and those hard won rights constantly at risk of being given up too lightly.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
