Track Premiere: Samuel or Daniel “Theo”

Samuel or Daniel is the Portland Maine-based alt-country/indie rock brainchild of Sam Guenther, and ‘Theo’ is the third single to be released from the debut EP ‘I Miss You Don’t Come Home’ which is itself due for release later in the Spring.  The EP is described as an exploration of a vast, empty alternate universe seen through the eyes of a lone space cowboy.  Ok.  This song in particular is a missive to Guenther’s brother and is, he says divided “into four sections: the sighting, the approach, the journey through, and the other side. It’s a last call before entering the void: a way of saying thank you and I still need you.”  Ok.  But what you really want to know is that it’s a gloriously scratchy concoction that chimes somewhere between Micah P. Hinson and Hiss Golden Measure with a dash of modern indy-folk.  Pretty good mix, we’re sure you’ll agree.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
