Track Premiere: Triptides “Fate”

It says here “Led by guitarist, keyboardist and singer Glenn Brigman, with drummer Brendan Peleo-Lazar and bassist/guitarist Stephen Burns, the trio is continually discovering their sound through a complex map of familiar influences and bold choices in tonality, structure and texture.”  And its true.  This is the third single from Triptides’ new album ‘So Many Days‘ (to be released in the Summer on Curation Records), and it sees the band cycling around the factors that have brought a relationship to a particular point.  Sonically ‘Fate‘ pulls in some heavy grooves to augment the laid back Laurel Canyon vibe that we’ve become accustomed to from Triptides.  Change is now, and this is a band morphing from late Sixties psychedlia influences to tap into some breezy mid-Seventies rock.

Talking of ‘Fate‘ Glenn Brigman told us “We were trying to do a Stealers Wheel meets Sheryl Crow sort of thing but we screwed it up and it became ‘Fate.’ We hope everyone enjoys it.”  And if this is the sound of screwing up, then here’s to many more screw ups (can we say that?  I guess we did).

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
