Track Premiere: William Lawrence “Tongue Tied”

William Lawrence’s album ‘Fool for You‘ is out on Christmas Eve, and we’re really glead to be premiering a track from it today.  It’s one of the songs on the album ‘Tongue Tied‘ which most closely reflects Lawrence’s day-job as the drummer in The Felice Brothers.  There’s a slow shuffle feel to the song, with a fiddle part that leans toward desolation in the song’s late night things going less than perfect mood.

The album called on a fine cast of musicians to help out on developing the sound – with James Felice, Keven Lareau (Hand Habits, Cut Worms), Rachel Meirs, Brian Kantor (Vetiver, Fruit Bats), Donny Amidon (Mail the Horse), Phil Nicolazzo, Allison Olender, Jonathan Talbott (The Lucky Five), and Greg Marino all lending their tlents. The album was mixed and produced by Ian McGuire.

Fool for You‘ is a true child of the pandemic – recording had just gotten going when disaster struck and as the USA was ravaged by waves upon waves of reinfection William Lawrence and his bandmates pulled everything together remotely.  It may have been a different time and way of working, but the outcome is a third solo album that Lawrence can be proud of.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
