Trampled by Turtles back with new album, single – Listen

If I have to go by unnatural causes, being trampled by turtles would be in my top 3 ways to die, particulalry if they were playing bluegrass this good. Minnesota six-piece Trampled By Turtles have announced a new album ‘Life Is Good On The Open Road’  which is due out in the UK via Thirty Tigers on June 1st. The record is the band’s first record since an indefinite hiatus was called a number of years back following 15 years of intense touring and recording.  New single ’Kelly’s Bar’ (which you can listen to below if you have turtle hearing) acts as the first introduction to the band in 2018.

Coincidentally, the band had arranged to regroup at banjo player, Dave Carroll’s cabin on the same day that their mutually beloved hero, Tom Petty sadly passed away. “We started cracking beers and hanging out, and all of a sudden it was like, ‘wow’!” frontman and primary songwriter, Dave Simonett recalls. “So we went down by the lake and brought a speaker and a bottle of whiskey, and just sat and listened to like six Tom Petty records straight. It felt good as a band to be sharing in that. Somebody we had all admired so much musically, that we could kind of bond over.”
