Valley Maker “No One Is Missing” – Listen

Valley Maker is the band name of Austin Crane, who has announced a new album ‘When the Day Leaves’ which will be released via Frenchkiss Records on 19th February.  ‘No One is Missing‘ is the second single, and it sees Valley Maker delivering a perfect slice of the new modern American folk sound (or TNMAFS as we like to call it).  Speaking of the song Austin Crane told us “I wrote the track as a way of grappling with the partiality and temporality of how we connect with one another, I guess as an attempt to collect and reflect on recent experiences of loss, love, leaving, returning, missing, etc. On that theme, while recent months of social distancing have often felt isolating, I’m continually grateful for how music and the natural world can remind us we’re not alone.”

There’s a nice touch of misdirection as Crane sings “love is over, love is over, love is overtaking me“, for this is for all that no song of heartbreak – it’s a song of heart filling love.  We may have mentioned before that we have no problem with that.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
