Video: Ian Bailey “TV Land”

Here is the second ‘lockdown session’ video from Preston singer-songwriter Ian Bailey.  ‘TV Land’ was originally recorded as a solo acoustic song for ‘Empty Fields’, Bailey’s well-regarded 2014 album.  The new version, recorded deep into the lockdown, turns it into a rhythmic song with excellent work on the distinctive 12-string Rickenbacker guitar.  The finger-picking is mesmerising, setting the song’s pulse, and, along with the ‘Eight Miles High’-style outro, the influence of The Byrds is clear.

Both ‘lockdown sessions’ so far were recorded and produced in Bailey’s home studio, ‘Small Space Studios’.  His daughter, Sacha, has one again provided her video producing and editing skills for the visuals.

Meanwhile, Bailey has just finished a collaboration album with singer-songwriter Charlotte Newman under the guise of The Lost Doves.  ‘Set Your Sights Towards the Sun’ is due for release on Bailey’s Green Tea Productions label soon.

Bailey is also putting together material for his sixth solo album, which will include both ‘lockdown sessions’.  Look out for updates on Twitter and Facebook.  Also, you can subscribe to Ian’s YouTube channel here.  In the meantime, tap your feet to this.
