Video: My Girl The River “You Do Not Deserve My Tears”

Here is a song to bring hope and strength to the downtrodden and the bullied.  During the anthemic chorus, Kris Wilkinson sings of reserving her tears for those who love her and this is such a powerful message.  Wilkinson and Joe Hughes have been joined by their daughter, Ruby, whose vocals and ukulele offer a new dimension to their sound.

The performers include Grammy-nominated and AMAUK award-winning producer Neilson Hubbard (Mary Gauthier) on drums and production, Will Kimbrough (Emmylou Harris) on guitar, Juan Solorzano on guitar, mellotron and steel, Kristin Wilkinson (Brandi Carlile, Willie Nelson) on strings, Lisa Oliver Gray and Ruby Hughes on backing vocals and Joe Hughes on double bass.

This a great song providing the lush setting that Kris’s voice deserves. I stumbled across Kris and her family band playing in a barn several years ago, and I play her 2016 album regularly. It’s great that there is finally some new material. Looking forward to the new album – and hopefully a London gig or two.
