Here’s the latest single from Connor Garvey, delivering a typically earnest performance and sincere lyricism from the Portland, Maine singer-songwriter.  ‘All These Things’ has is an engaging tune, benefiting from musical layers and flourishes, particularly notable are the keys from Ben Cosgrove and the additional vocals from Sorcha Cribben-Merrill, which add real texture and depth.  Part of the fullness and richness of the sound comes from Garvey starting out as a drummer and that sense of rhythm remains at the heart of his songs.  In the video for ‘All These Things’, we see the song played with Cribben-Merrill in a tree-house, performed just for themselves.  Then, we see it coming together in the studio , followed by a full live showing.  It really is like following the life of the song from its humble beginnings through to when it’s ready to be shared with the world, which is a smart concept for the video.

Garvey explains: “For the music video of this song we wanted to take the journey of a song from creation, to production, to performance. This song, Sorcha Cribben-Merrill and I wrote together in a setting not too far off from this treehouse in the video. Over the course of years we’ve performed it all around the country on various stages, festivals, around fires and kitchen tables. In this video we wanted to capture some of that energy as we took this song to the studio with the band and then to the wonderful stage of One Longfellow Square in Portland, ME. The footage of the live show (and the green room space) was at the special hometown pre-release show for this new album. We played the whole album through that we’d been working on for so long…it was an incredible feeling. ‘All These Things’ was our closing song and we captured some of the amazing energy on stage and in the room. While the audio of this music video is from the studio recording we were able to piece together the live footage over aspects of the video to bring the whole journey together.”

The song is taken from Garvey’s eighth studio album ‘Another End of a Year’, which is due for release on 21st July 2022.  The songs on the record trace an emotional journey through life and loss, love and introspection.  Garvey is an award-winner with his talents for both songwriting and performance recognised.  His accolades have included being named winner of Kerrville New Folk, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest, SolarFest, Wildflower Art and Music Festival and Maine Songwriters Association song-writing competitions.  This is quality songcraft from a richly experienced, acclaimed musician.  Check it out.
