Video Premiere: Katie Knipp “The Gospel of Good Intentions”

Check out the premiere of this engaging live video of ‘The Gospel of Good Intentions’ from the multi-instrumentalist Katie Knipp.  With Chris Martinez’s fuzzy guitar, Zachary Proteau’s powerful bass and soaring brass and woodwind from Otis Mourning, Knipp’s talented band delivers an absorbing performance.  Neil Campisano holds it altogether with forceful drums and the layered combination of players and the blend of genres results in a song that’s full of class and craft.  Over this fine instrumentation, Katie Knipp’s voice is genuinely distinctive and fresh; it’s a memorable showing from the California singer-songwriter.  The feel is original and new; ‘The Gospel of Good Intentions’ is a bluesy, atmospheric groove and Knipp’s emotive words are delivered with passion: “Let the belly of the sea come digest me // Kelp blades grab my ankles pull me down till I’m still // Tides bring the body to shore this skin and bone // Ain’t my soul’s home anymore.”

Voted Female Artist Of The Year in consecutive years by the Country Folk Americana Blues Realm and winner of the Sacramento Blues Artist award, Knipp is a highly respected artist.  Her Dobro, harmonica and keys underpin her sound, creating a platform for that unexpected, adventurous vocal.  The single is taken from her latest album ‘Live At the Green Room Social Club’, which is out today 10th June 2022.  This is the follow-up to the well-received 2021 EP ‘The Well’ and based on this single, it should prove to be equally enjoyable.  Enjoy.
