Video Premiere: Kiss the Tiger “I Miss You”

Beautifully animated by Eleonore Dendy, here is the brand new video from Minneapolis band Kiss the Tiger. The video complements the song, depicting a mother whose child has moved on, leaving behind an ’empty nest’. Lyrically, the song tackles a different, more substantial loss, that of a mother who has lost her child.  However, both these situations stir real, engaging emotions.  Though full of sorrow, there’s also a sense of acceptance as ultimately the mother at the heart of the song must learn to live on and look to the future.  The challenging subject matter is handled sensitively and contrasts neatly with the rhythmic, bright instrumentation and the gorgeous tune.  Indeed, a real highlight is the lovely vocal melody delivered by Meghan Kreidle; it remains long in the memory and is buoyed by excellent backing and absorbing sonic layers to get lost in, particularly Paul DeLong’s superb bass and the dreamy organ drone from Victor Zupanc.

Kiss the Tiger brings together a range of sounds and influences, including rock, folk and blues to create a distinctive, likeable style all their own.  Whether on a more delicate, reflective song like ‘I Miss You’ or on one of their rockier numbers, the effect is immediate.  Look out for their third full-length album, ‘Vicious Kid’, which is due for release on 3rd June 2021.  It promises more absorbing, memorable hooks
