Video: Luther Black and The Cold Hard Facts “Long Way to Go”

Check out the atmospheric video for ‘Long Way to Go’ by Luther Black and The Cold Hard Facts.  The black and white scenes of New Jersey’s industrial landscapes, brooding and full of decay, are the backdrop to a song about trying to break free from a hard-working life.  Featuring Matt Wissler’s melodic guitar and the greatly characterful voice of Rick Wagner, ‘Long Way to Go’ is an emotive song that pulls the listener into the tale of a weary factory worker who dreams of escape: “One of these days I’m gonna break free // Gonna scale the prison walls of this factory.”  Wagner’s gritty vocal is the perfect match for the subject matter and he brings all his experience to the song, with direct, thought-provoking language and messages: “Don’t expect much, keep my gratitude high.”

Wagner, the band’s singer, song-writer and producer, says of the song: “It’s a song about being down but not out.  I wrote it from the viewpoint of the factory worker who has the strength, resolve and optimism to remain hopeful about his future despite his disillusion and regret about his past.”

‘Long Way to Go’ is taken from ‘Moment of Truth’, the brand new album, which was released today, 12th May 2022.  This is the band’s second album, following their self-titled 2019 release and, once again, listeners will find well-crafted songs blending rock, folk and country, bringing to mind the likes of Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp.  Enjoy.
