Video Premiere: The Trouble Notes “The Banjolorian”

Check out the latest single from The Trouble Notes.  ‘The Banjolorian’ features energetic banjo and fast-paced fiddle in an uptempo, dynamic piece that makes you want to move.  On their ‘Lose Your Ties’ tour in 2019, the band met excellent musicians from the worlds of both folk and Hip-hop and the idea formed of mixing these together.  Bennet Cerven, the band’s violinist, explains this fusion of sounds: “Growing up in the Midwest of America, I was exposed to a wide range of musical influence. Yes, I studied classical music, but my music collection was highlighted by Americana, Rock and Hip-hop records.  It was these influences that led me to shape the repertoire of The Trouble Notes. ‘Banjolorian’ is a nod to those formative years of my life.”  The accompanying video shows Cerven performing alongside Florian Eisenschmidt (guitar, banjo) and  Oliver Maguire (percussion) and their unexpected grooves are reinforced by the appearance of dancers as a nod to their urban influences.

The Trouble Notes have travelled the world absorbing a range of influences and gathering a diverse group of fans, known as ‘The Troublemakers’.  All the sounds that have inspired them on their journeys are combined to create something new and fresh, music to reflect the current generation.  The  familiar sounds of fiddle and banjo, folk and roots, blend with contemporary urban rhythms and a dash of tribal dance to create music that has won over legions of fans.  Footage of The Trouble Notes playing on the streets of France and Germany went viral and led to over a hundred million views on social media.  The band is now preparing for the release of their second album ‘Liberty Awaits’ on 28th April 2023.

Along with this single, and to support the forthcoming album, comes the announcement of the ‘More Violins, Less Violence’ tour of North America in the autumn of 2023.  The Trouble Notes will be spreading their message of hope and unity across the USA and Canada in support of a charitable cause helping children affected by violence – five dollars from each ticket price and from each ‘More Violins, Less Violence’ t-shirt sold will go towards this good cause.  See the new dates below.  There are also tickets still available for dates across Europe and the UK in March – check the details here.  In the meantime, get dancing to ‘The Banjolorian’.  Enjoy.
