Video: The Burner Band “Block Out The S*n”

As all dedicated readers of this website will know, AUK Towers sits somewhere in a suburb of South Liverpool. Each year we have a friend who comes up here to Liverpool every so often, and each time goes to the biggest Tesco he can find just to check that it really doesn’t sell The S*n “newspaper” – almost as if it’s too good to be true that the boycott could actually be a thing, something respected by the smallest newsagent to the biggest monolithic supermarket. But a thing it is – for 3 decades and counting now – and so we couldn’t let this track go by from The Burner Band, taken from their ‘Signs and Wonders’ album which we showered praise on last week, describing it as “incipient, snarling rock and roll melding bluegrass and punk as if this were Memphis in 1954.” How can you resist that? Lewis Burner told us: “‘Block Out The S*n’ is dedicated to the campaign in Liverpool to rid the city of a hate-filled rag that tried to blame Liverpool football fans for the Hillsborough tragedy. It’s a hats off to a great example we can all live by: we are better than spreading hate and division.”
